Evaristo de Abreu represents Mozambique at the African art market in Abidjan

Mozambican cultural programmer Evaristo de Abreu, associated with the 16Neto cultural space, participated in MASA – Marché des Arts du Spectacle Africain d’Abidjan (Abidjan African Performing Arts Market), in Ivory Coast, one of the most important performing arts markets on the African continent.

In its 14th edition, and after more than 32 years dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of African talent, MASA fully establishes itself as a benchmark platform serving the performing arts sector. The event is recognized as a strategic space for the visibility and internationalization of African cultural industries.

The theme of this edition, “Performing Arts in Africa: an economic and social tool,” according to MASA director Abdramane Kamaté, reflects the deep conviction that culture constitutes a powerful engine of social transformation, cohesion, and economic development.

The presence of Evaristo de Abreu, as a cultural agent and representative of an important Mozambican cultural and creative center, represents a significant step towards the inclusion of independent Mozambican initiatives in the African circuit. The programmer participated in networking sessions, showcases, and debates on cultural policies and artistic circulation on the continent.

By establishing connections with artists, curators, and programmers from different countries, Abreu contributes to opening new possibilities for collaboration between Mozambique and other African geographies, promoting the circulation of national artists and projects.

In Ivory Coast, Abreu was elected to the Management Committee of Kreafrika, a platform aimed at current and future professionals in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) of Africa.
