MFF Academy Announces Winning Project of the 2026 Research Call for Proposals

The Maputo Fast Forward Academy (MFF) is honored to announce the final results of the 2026 Research Call for Proposals, an initiative integrated into the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the Maputo Fast Forward Festival, which reaffirms the institution’s commitment to promoting scientific research, knowledge production, and the appreciation of African and Mozambican perspectives on contemporary challenges.

The call for proposals received high-quality submissions in the areas of Natural Disasters and Environment, Local Economy and Local (Under)development, Social Conflicts, Culture and Art, Gender, Democracy and Governance, and Technological Innovation. Following a rigorous evaluation process conducted by a technical-scientific jury, which analyzed four finalist projects, the project that stood out the most for its social and academic relevance, methodological quality, innovative character, and alignment with the objectives of the MFF Academy and the theme of the MFF Biennial 2026 was selected.

It is with great satisfaction that we announce the winning project of the MFF 2026 Research Call:
Mkombs – Narrative Game Based on the History of the Makombes

The proposal presents an innovative approach by combining technology, education, cultural heritage, and African narratives, contributing to the appreciation and dissemination of Mozambican history and collective memory through creative formats accessible to new generations.

The MFF Academy congratulates the winning team and thanks all applicants for the trust placed in this initiative. The applications received demonstrate the vitality of the intellectual and creative production of Mozambican youth and its potential to generate transformative knowledge.
With this initiative, the Maputo Fast Forward Academy reaffirms its role as a platform for research, experimentation, and innovation, promoting the production of knowledge committed to the challenges and opportunities of contemporary African societies.
