The 58,016-square-meter cultural complex was built on a former military airport decommissioned in 2004.
According to Dezeen, citing SANAA, the project was conceived to immerse visitors in the surrounding natural landscape. This was achieved by maximizing transparency, with the building clad in glass and metal wrapped in a layer of aluminum mesh.
The block-like volumes of the Taichung Green Museumbary are elevated on columns, creating access routes from all directions. They also feature an accessible terrace overlooking the park and the city skyline.

Once inaugurated, the Taichung Public Library is expected to house more than one million books. Meanwhile, the Taichung Museum of Art will focus on supporting local artists and connecting Taiwan to the international art scene.
TcAM has already announced its inaugural exhibition, entitled “A Call from All Beings: Until Tomorrow, Same Time, Same Place”, curated by Ling-Chih Chow, Alaina Claire Feldman, and Anca Mihuleţ-Kim (Romania/South Korea). The exhibition will bring together artists from 20 countries to explore relationships between humans and non-human entities, engaging with Taiwan’s artistic heritage and cultural traditions.
